If you have been charged with a crime and you cannot afford a lawyer, sometimes the court will get you a free lawyer. This is in more serious cases, where you might be facing jail time. There are two forms you will need to file: the Motion for Appointment of Counsel and the Indigency Affidavit. Find links to these forms below.
You can print the Blank Forms, then fill them out. Or you can fill out the Interactive Forms on your computer, then print. If you cannot get these on-line forms, you can get the same forms from the court clerk.
Blank Forms
Interactive Forms
You will need Acrobat Reader to use the forms. If you have Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer or as a plug-in for your browser, you can view, print or download the blank form. You can also prepare the interactive forms on-line, and print the completed form.
If you don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader, you can go and get it. It's free, but takes a little while to download. To use the interactive forms you will need Acrobat Reader 4.0 or more recent. Follow the link below to get Acrobat Reader.
