Pine Tree Legal Assistance and the Volunteer Lawyers Project both have income
eligibility guidelines and can only help people whose family income is below a certain
level.
Legal Services for the Elderly only helps people who are aged 60 and older. The Disability
Rights Center helps people who have disability-related legal problems.
The Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project helps people with immigration problems for a small fee.
The Maine Civil Liberties Union helps people whose legal problems involve civil liberties issues.
The Maine Lawyer Referral Service will refer your problem to a private attorney who will
provide a half-hour consultation for a $20 fee. This is often the best resource for people who
don't qualify for help from the other legal services programs.
There are other organizations in some towns that can provide legal help, too.
If you put your county, age and income information into the search engine, HelpMeLas can
help you find those.
